A Letter of Support from Rep. Donald Lally

I have had the pleasure of working with David Caprio for the last ten years. During that time, he has served on the Finance Committee and is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He has attained these positions through the confidence that our fellow Representatives have in his abilities, intellect, and leadership.

Most of you know that we in South County are vastly outnumbered by Representatives from the largest cities. It is through achieving leadership positions like David's that we keep a balance of power to see that we in South County are well-served and get our fair share.

David and I work together on many issues - including reforming Rhode Island's hospital licensing fees that were unfair and threatened to close South County Hospital; criminal laws like drunk driving; tougher laws for dangerous and frequent traffic violators; sexual predators; and many laws that give our police the tools they need to keep us safe in our homes and streets. This session we implemented income tax reform that makes us more competitive, improving our state's rating from 48th to 26th nationwide (Providence Journal Bulletin, dated June 20). We are working to move the state forward and much remains to be done!

I urge you to vote for David this Primary Day on Tuesday, September 14th 2010.
